Find the exact text your DMA software or MewTools printed below. Each one has a line on what it means and a link to its own page with the fix. Almost every error comes down to four things: a stuck card, the cable or the USB port, an activator that wasn't run, or the software itself.
Most DMA software is built on the same libraries, LeechCore and MemProcFS, so you'll see the same messages in different tools. Read the whole log, not just the last line. The first error is usually the one that matters.
Two checks before anything else
"FPGA: TINY PCIe TLP Algorithm auto-selected!"
The card can't read your main PC's memory, so the software fell back to tiny, slow reads. With our firmware it usually means you haven't run the activator. Fix TINY PCIe TLP algorithm auto-selected.
"[FAIL] VMM INIT FAILED."
The software couldn't start reading your main PC. Check the log above it for TINY PCIe TLP, then cold boot, then the cable, port and BIOS. Fix VMM INIT FAILED.
"FPGA: ERROR: Unable to connect to USB/FT601 device"
Your second PC can't reach the card's data port. Usually the cable is in the JTAG port or the data driver is missing. Fix Unable to connect to USB/FT601 device.
"Failed to retrieve Physical Memory Map!"
The link dropped while the software read where your RAM sits, or it needs a memory map. Fix Failed to retrieve Physical Memory Map.
"Unable to locate valid DTB"
It connected but can't find Windows in your main PC's memory. A memory map fixes it most often. Fix Unable to locate valid DTB.
"[SYMBOL] Offline symbols unavailable - file 'info.db' not found."
A file is missing from your software's folder. This one is on the software side. Fix info.db not found.
"Failed to initialize DMA"
Your software can't open the card: wrong port, no data driver, or another program has it. Fix Failed to initialize DMA.
"FTDI SuperSpeed-FIFO Bridge" with a warning
The card's data driver isn't installed. One button in MewTools fixes it. Fix FTDI SuperSpeed-FIFO Bridge.
"USB To UART+JTAG" under Other devices
The card's JTAG port without its driver, so MewTools can't flash. Fix USB To UART+JTAG.
Speed test FAIL in MewTools
Nearly always the cable or the USB port, not the card. Low DMA speed has the numbers and every fix.
"Windows protected your PC"
SmartScreen asking before it opens MewTools. Press More info, then Run anyway. Smart App Control and antivirus blocks are in MewTools blocked by Windows.
"DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION"
A blue screen on the main PC with stop code 0xE6. Usually a driver bug, but rule the card out. What to do about DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION.
Questions
- Does an error mean my firmware is detected?
No. These errors are about the card, the cable, the activator or the software. A detection shows up as a ban, and we post it on our status page. Device detections explains what happens then. - Do I need to flash again to fix an error?
Not unless we tell you to. Work through the fixes, then send us a screenshot. Don't flash firmware from anywhere else to test it. Our files are built for your card's DNA ID. - Which errors are the software's, not ours?
Login and license errors, info.db, and ESP that's wrong once everything connects. Ask your software's maker first. The card, the firmware, the flash and the activator are ours.
Still stuck
Open a ticket in our Discord with a screenshot of the whole error log, not just the last line, and a screenshot of the MewTools speed test. What to send us has the full list.
No account needed. It tells us what to write more of.
