Unable to retrieve required Device PCIe ID: what it means and the fix

Your second PC reached the DMA card, but the card isn't linked to your main PC's slot. Cold boot, check the lights, reseat it and try another slot.

"Unable to retrieve required Device PCIe ID" means your second PC reached the card over USB, but the card isn't connected to your main PC through its slot. The numbers in brackets after it end in 0000. That's the ID your main PC gives the card when it starts. It's zero because the card never came up in the slot.

So the cable, the USB port and the data driver are doing their job. The problem is on the main PC side.

How to fix it

Work down the list and try again after each one.

  • Cold boot the main PC.
Shut it down, unplug it at the back, hold the power button for 15 seconds, then start it into Windows. A normal restart can leave the card stuck, and it doesn't load new firmware. Cold boot has the steps.
  • Check the PCIe status light.
On the GODLIKE 100T it should be on steady. Blinking means the link to the slot failed. Off while the power light is on means the firmware is missing or doesn't suit the card. What each light means.
  • Reseat the card.
Shut down, unplug the main PC and take the card out. Push it back in until no gold shows above the slot.
  • Try another slot.
Some slots share lanes with an M.2 socket and switch off when a drive is in it. Your motherboard manual says which. Which slot to pick covers it.
  • Take out the riser, if you use one, and put the card straight in a slot.
  • Fast Boot off.
In the BIOS, not the Windows Fast Startup option. How to open your BIOS shows where it is on each brand.
  • Step the slot's speed down.
In the BIOS, each slot has a speed setting shown as Gen1, Gen2, Gen3 and so on. Start at the fastest and step it down one at a time until the card works.

Some guides tell you to turn off virtualization, IOMMU or Secure Boot for this. You don't need to. With our firmware the only BIOS change is Fast Boot off. Why the rest stays on.

  • The next line is often MemProcFS: Failed to connect to memory acquisition device. That only says the software gave up. This error is the cause.
  • If the brackets show [0,v0.0,0000] and it says it can't connect, your second PC can't reach the card at all. That's Unable to connect to USB/FT601 device.
