MewTools is our free Windows app for setting up a DMA card. You run it on your second PC, the one the card's USB cables go into. It does the stuff you'd otherwise do with a handful of separate tools, and when something goes wrong it gives you a code that links straight to the fix. Download MewTools.
What it does
- Card check.
Sees the card's data port and its JTAG/flash port, and tells you which chip your card has. - DNA ID.
Reads your card's DNA ID. We need it to build firmware for your card. Your DNA ID explains why. - Speed test.
Tests the link between the card and your second PC, and tells you if it's on a USB 2 port or a hub. - Firmware flasher.
Flashes 35T, 75T and 100T cards. It checks the file is made for your card's chip before it starts, and checks the flash after. - MAKCU and FERRUM.
Finds the device, tests that the cursor moves, helps when the COM port is 10 or higher, and flashes MAKCU firmware. - Drivers.
Installs the FTDI, CH347 and CH343 drivers from the makers' own sites, and checks each file before it runs. - Second PC optimizer.
Turns off things like sleep and USB power saving, which can make the card drop. It makes a restore point before it changes anything, so you can always go back.
Run it as admin
Right-click it and pick Run as administrator. If you don't, the app tells you with MT-601.
Error codes
Every problem the app finds has a code like MT-101. Click it in the app and you land on the fix. They're grouped like this:
- Card: no card found, ports not seen, DNA ID and speed test problems
- Drivers: FTDI, CH347 and CH343, downloads and WinUSB
- Flashing: wrong file, wrong chip, a flash that failed
- MAKCU and FERRUM: device not found, COM ports, a MAKCU flash that failed
- Setup pack and optimizer: restore points, tamper protection, Defender, startup apps
- App and system: admin rights, internet, refresh rate, sleep and USB power saving
If a fix doesn't work, open a ticket in our Discord (how to open one) and paste the summary the app gives you.
