MewTools app and system errors (MT-601 to MT-612) and fixes

These are the error codes MewTools shows about the app itself and your PC. Find the code or the message the app gave you, and the fix is under it. Words in curly brackets, like {name}, get filled in by the app with your details.

MT-601: MewTools is not running as admin.

The app needs admin rights to do its job.

• Close the app.
• Right-click it and pick Run as administrator.

MT-602: Some app files are missing or changed. Reinstall MewTools.

Part of the app is gone or doesn't match.

• Download the installer again from mewdma.net.
• Reinstall.

MT-603: Could not check for updates.

The app couldn't reach the update check.

• Check your internet.
• You can keep using this version in the meantime.

MT-604: No internet connection.

The PC isn't online.

• Check the network cable or Wi-Fi.

MT-605: mewdma.net can't be reached.

Your internet works, but our site didn't answer.

• Try again in a few minutes.
• If other sites work and ours still doesn't, check your DNS or VPN.

MT-606: Ping to mewdma.net is high ({ms} ms).

Your connection is slow right now.

• Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi.
• Close any downloads.

MT-607: {monitor} runs at {current} Hz but supports {max} Hz.

Your monitor can run faster than Windows has it set to.

• Open Settings, then System, Display, Advanced display.
• Pick the highest refresh rate.

MT-608: Could not save the file.

Windows didn't let the app write to that folder.

• Pick another folder, like Desktop or Documents.

MT-609: Could not read system info.

The app couldn't read your PC's details from Windows.

• Restart the PC.
• Try again.

MT-610: Sleep or USB selective suspend is on. The card can drop.

When Windows saves power on USB or puts the PC to sleep, the card's connection can drop.

• On the Optimizer screen, in the DMA second PC group, turn on "USB power saving off" and "Sleep and hibernate off".

MT-611: Something went wrong: {detail}

The app hit something it doesn't have a code for. The detail is what we need to see.

• Copy the message.
• Open a ticket and paste it in.

MT-612: No old wallpaper saved to put back.

The app has no wallpaper saved from before, so there's nothing to restore.

• Pick a wallpaper yourself in Settings, Personalization.
