These are the error codes MewTools shows on the Drivers screen and while it sets up drivers. Find the code or the message the app gave you, and the fix is under it. Words in curly brackets, like {name}, get filled in by the app with your details.
The app gets every driver from the maker's own site and checks the file before it runs it. FTDI is for the card's data port, CH347 is for the card's JTAG/flash port and CH343 is for MAKCU.
MT-201: The FTDI FT601 driver is not installed.
Without it nothing can use the card's data port, so no speed test and no software.
- Click Install next to FTDI on the Drivers screen.
- It downloads from ftdichip.com and installs by itself.
- Then unplug the data cable and plug it back in. Second PC setup shows what Device Manager should say.
MT-202: The data port is using a different driver than the FTDI one.
Something else took over the data port, so the FTDI driver isn't the one in use.
- Reinstall the FTDI driver from the Drivers screen.
- Unplug the data cable and plug it back in.
- If Device Manager still shows a warning, see FTDI SuperSpeed-FIFO Bridge with a warning.
MT-203: The CH347 driver is not installed.
CH347 is the driver for the card's JTAG/flash port. You need it to read your DNA ID and to flash. Without it the port shows as USB To UART+JTAG in Device Manager.
- Click Install next to CH347 on the Drivers screen.
- It downloads from wch-ic.com and installs by itself.
MT-204: The CH343 driver is not installed.
CH343 is the driver MAKCU uses for its COM port.
- Click Install next to CH343 on the Drivers screen.
- It downloads from wch-ic.com and installs by itself.
- More on the port in MAKCU setup.
MT-205: The driver download failed.
The app couldn't get the file from the maker's site.
- Check your internet.
- Try again in a minute.
MT-206: The driver file failed the safety check, so it was not run.
The file that came down didn't match what it should be, so the app stopped before running it.
- Try again later.
- Don't install drivers from other sites.
- Open a ticket if it keeps happening.
MT-207: The driver installer did not finish.
The maker's installer closed before it was done.
- Run the install again.
- Click through the maker's window until it says it's done.
MT-208: Windows Update can swap your drivers for older ones.
This is a warning, not a failure. Windows Update sometimes puts an older driver over the one you installed.
- On the Windows Update screen in the app, turn on "Driver updates through Windows Update off".
MT-209: Downloaded {name} from the MewDMA backup copy because the official site did not work.
The maker's site didn't answer, so the app used our copy instead.
- Nothing to do. It's the same file, checked by its checksum.
MT-210: The JTAG port needs WinUSB before it can be flashed.
On this card the JTAG port has to be on the WinUSB driver to flash.
- Click Set up WinUSB on the Card check screen.
- To undo it later, use the Undo button there.
- You can also do it with Zadig: put WinUSB on interface 0 of the Quad RS232-HS device.
MT-211: Put the FTDI driver back on the JTAG port.
Nothing to do.
