Already own a DMA card? Using our firmware on it

Yes, you can run our firmware on a DMA card you bought somewhere else. Which builds fit depends on its chip, your CPU and your board.

Which builds fit your card

35T.
None of the builds we sell. Every build needs more room than a 35T has, so you need a 75T or a 100T.
75T or 100T.
Every build.

Your CPU and board decide the rest. Every build needs a board from about 2020 or newer. Private needs an Intel 11th gen or newer. Vanguard runs on Intel only, on every build. The builds, in order has them side by side, and Why the 100T explains the chip sizes.

Find out which chip your card has

If the card has never been used, keep the main PC in the BIOS while you check it. The rule about never booting Windows with an unflashed card applies to any card. The main PC only has to be on so the card has power, and MewTools runs on your second computer.

MewTools is the easiest.
Open Dashboard and press Auto detect DMA device. It tells you which Artix-7 chip is on the card.
Or read the chip.
The part number is printed on it: XC7A35T, XC7A75T or XC7A100T. On many cards it's under a heatsink, so use MewTools instead of taking the card apart.
Sellers' listings can be wrong.
If the listing and MewTools disagree, trust MewTools.

M.2 and Thunderbolt cards

Many M.2 and Thunderbolt DMA cards use the same Artix-7 chips, and the same chip sizes decide which builds fit. The rest of the board is different from a USB card though, so post your card on the support forum and ask before you buy firmware for one.

Which port is JTAG and which is data

JTAG is the port you flash through. Data is the port your second computer reads the card through. Every brand lays them out differently, so don't go by our card's layout. Read the label on your card or the maker's manual. If yours isn't labeled, install both drivers from MewTools and test it:

JTAG.
With the cable in this port, MewTools says JTAG ACTIVE (Flashing Mode).
Data.
On a USB card, with the cable in this port, FTDI FT601 USB 3.0 Bridge Device shows under Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device Manager.

If your card has a kill switch, never flip it while your PC is on. If it has none, turn the card off by shutting the PC down and switching off the power supply at the back.

Does MewTools work on my card?

MewTools is our free tool. It works on 35T, 75T and 100T cards, including ones you didn't buy from us. Run it on your second computer, never on your main PC. The chip matters more than the brand, but if MewTools can't see yours, ask on the support forum before you buy.

The order to do it in

Buy the firmware
Send your DNA ID, your card's model and an msinfo32 report from your order page. Your DNA ID and msinfo32 report shows where each one comes from. For MiTM, ask in a ticket what we need, because it's tied to your second computer, not your card
Flash it with MewTools when the file arrives. That's usually about 2 hours, 24 hours at most. Flashing your firmware
Restart the main PC properly, with the cable moved to the data port
Run the speed test

Write your card's model the way it's written on the box or the listing, so we know what we're building for.

If Windows has already seen this card

Our rule for a new card is to never boot into Windows with it in until it's flashed. Windows logs the device, and nothing can properly clean that up afterwards. If that happened, the fix is to reinstall Windows on the main PC. Back up and reinstall Windows shows how.

A card you've been using with another seller's firmware has already been seen by Windows. If you weren't banned on that PC, you don't need to reinstall Windows. If you were banned on it, reinstall Windows on the main PC before you run our build.

Your old seller's firmware got detected, or they are gone

Their build stays theirs.
Any warranty, replacement or support on it is between you and them. We can't see or fix another seller's firmware.
Your card still works.
Flashing our build replaces the old firmware, and ours is then bound to that card's DNA ID (MiTM to your second computer).
It doesn't lift a ban.
A ban already on your account stays there.

What we cover on a card we did not sell

Firmware warranty, yes.
Your build has the same warranty as anyone else's on that build. You get a new device if we confirm and announce that your device is blocked or detected. For MiTM it's if we confirm it, since every MiTM device is unique. You get a replacement if it can't be made to work with your board.
Hardware warranty, no.
Our three-month hardware warranty covers hardware we sold. A fault on your card is for the seller you bought it from.
Help in a ticket, once you're a customer.
Once you've bought from us, you get help in a ticket like anyone else. Before that, ask on the support forum.

Refunds

Firmware is refunded in one case only, and our terms say exactly what it is. Read them before you pay.

On a card from somewhere else, two of those rules matter most. There's no refund if the problem comes from a hardware or Windows fault that was already there, like a bad PCIe or USB port or a problem with your second computer. And there's no refund if flashing that wasn't done our way left the card in a bad state.
