Set up MewCapture

Record or stream with your overlay, no capture card: install MewCapture on both PCs, pair them, pick your overlay and go live. Every step in order.
Guidephantom · 2 reads

MewCapture records or streams your game with your overlay on it, no capture card needed. Your main PC only sends the game and the sound you pick. Your second PC does everything else: the overlay, scenes, webcam, recording, streaming and clips. MewCapture has the download and the full list of what it does.

Warning. Never run your overlay on the main PC. Anti-cheats take screenshots of the main PC and scan them, also with AI, for things like ESP. MewCapture keeps the overlay on the second PC, and shows a red warning if the second PC's picture ever comes back to the main PC.

What you need

1. Install MewCapture on both PCs

Note. Screenshot coming here: the first screen, where you pick Main PC or Second PC.

2. Start receiving on the second PC

Note. Screenshot coming here: Pick your overlay window, with the preview and the slider.

3. Pair the two PCs

Note. Screenshot coming here: both PCs showing the same 4-digit code.

4. Send the game from the main PC

The main PC screen shows how much MewCapture uses. There's no preview on it, to keep it light. You can close the window and it keeps running in the tray, or press Small window.

Note. Screenshot coming here: the main PC screen with Start sending.

5. Build your scene on the second PC

Note. Screenshot coming here: Scenes, with the game, the overlay and a webcam.

6. Set the sound

Note. Screenshot coming here: Audio, with the meters.

7. Record or go live

Note. Screenshot coming here: Output, with the presets, Record and Go live.

Clip That

Press the clip hotkey on either PC and MewCapture saves the last 30 seconds to 2 minutes, with the overlay or clean. Trim it, and send a clean clip to your main PC in one click. You set a hotkey by clicking its box and pressing the keys.

Using OBS instead

OBS is optional. MewCapture records and streams by itself. If you like OBS, run it on the second PC:

Warning. Never put the projector, or an OBS scene with the second PC's picture in it, on the main PC. That puts your overlay back on the main PC's screen. MewCapture shows a red warning if it happens. OBS on the main PC on its own is fine.

If something's wrong

  • The PCs can't find each other.
Press Start receiving on the second PC first, and check both are on the same router. Turn off guest networks, AP or client isolation and VPNs. Network on the second PC shows what's blocking it, sometimes with a Fix it button. A direct cable always works.
  • The game is black.
Pick Screen instead of the game window.
  • It stutters or looks blocky.
Use a cable, or pick Smooth as the quality on the main PC. MewCapture also lowers the quality by itself when packets drop.
  • Still stuck.
Press Something's wrong. It checks both PCs and the connection and tells you what to fix. Then use Report a bug or idea in the app, or open a ticket in our Discord and paste the summary.
